If you have been fortunate in your life, what do you ask for when you have a milestone birthday? Gene and Kim Palmer share these sentiments:
Our son Kyle was 7 when he started receiving respite and service coordination support from Saratoga Bridges. In 2010, he began attending the Alpha Day Program and last year Kyle was given the opportunity to move into the Meadow Rue Place community-based home in Malta. Although it was a bit of a drive for us, we loved the comradery of the housemates and thought it would be a good fit for him.
We are thrilled with how quickly Kyle made friends. His room is a hub of activity with the guys playing basketball and listening to music. They miss him when he is not there and welcome him with hugs and smiles when he returns. The house has truly become Kyle’s home, and the guys and staff, his family.
After everything Kyle has endured, reaching 30 was a tremendous milestone. So, we decided to have a Birthday Celebration. Due to all the gifts Kyle has received throughout his life, we felt making it a fundraiser for Saratoga Bridges would be better in lieu of presents. We wanted to recognize everyone instrumental in his journey and our support network. Words cannot adequately articulate how much the agency has been a blessing for us. It encompasses Kyle’s happiness with our comfort. And, the 30th Birthday Celebration turned out to be a huge success with family, friends, food, DJ and even Mickey Mouse. Our generous guests gave more than $1,500 and the Fairways of Halfmoon offered a 10% discount. Most importantly, everyone had a great time and we were able to express our utmost appreciation for their continuous support.
Please consider making a gift to their Builders Society by May 15. Your donation will go towards the $12,500 GLOBALFOUNDRIES - Town of Malta Foundation challenge grant they received to replace the windows and vinyl siding at Kyle’s home. In doing so, you will become a DIFFERENCE MAKER for the guys who live there.
We truly value and are grateful for your generosity!
